Regional leaders congratulate William Ruto on presidential poll win

African Heads of State and Prime Ministers have begun congratulating William Ruto on his presidential poll win in Kenya.

Ruto was Monday, August 15 declared the president-elect by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chair Wafula Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya.

Several regional leaders have since congratulated Ruto on his win in the August 9 General Election, hoping to strengthen bilateral ties between Kenya and their respective countries.

Ethiopia PM Abiy Ahmed

"My congratulations William Ruto on your election as the President of the Republic of Kenya. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors ahead and we look forward to working closely with you on common bilateral and regional interests."

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa

"Congratulations to William Ruto on his election as the next President of Kenya. I have no doubt he will serve his country, his people, and our continent with distinction."

Somalia President Hassan Mohamud
