Ombachi recalled as Injera shakes of injury to make Hong Kong trip

Kenya Sevens head coach Innocent Simiyu has recalled Nondescripts winger Dennis Ombachi for the seventh and eighth legs of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Hong Kong (April 7-9) and Singapore (April 15-17).

Ombachi is back in the squad that leaves for Hong Kong on Monday after a year’s absence alongside Kabras Sugar’s Brian Tanga, while Impala utility player Derrick Mayar is in line for his World Series debut. Collins Injera has shaken off an injury to make the trip. “Ombachi and Mayar are all runners and we wanted more speed in the team. They are also very good on high balls. They bring different dynamics into the team,” Simiyu said of the duo’s inclusion during the launch of the teams’ kit at RFUEA grounds yesterday.

The event was attended by KRU’s official sponsors, Sportpesa and Isuzu. Kenya have been drawn in Pool B alongside South Africa, France and Canada. [Rodgers Eshitemi]
