Detectives are investigating the circumstances under which the son of Nominated MP David Sankok shot himself dead.

Narok County Criminal Investigations Officer Mwenda Ethaiba led a team of Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers to the lawmaker’s home at Ewaso Nyiro Centre, Narok County on Tuesday morning.

Sankok’s 15-year-old son, a Form three student, is said to have gained access to his father’s bedroom where he had hidden the gun, on Monday at around 3 pm.

According to sources privy to the investigations, the detectives are seeking to know how the boy accessed the gun and where it was kept.

The CCIO said they are trying to establish what could have triggered the minor to shoot himself.

“We are investigating and in the course of time we shall be able to unravel that,” he said.

Ethaiba promised to issue a comprehensive media statement at 3 pm today.
