Trans Nzoia boy stabs, injures schoolgirl for rejecting him

A Form Three girl was on Tuesday morning stabbed and injured by another male student after she declined his proposal for a love affair.

The student at St Vincent Secondary School in Kiminini was attacked by the boy who was reportedly armed with a kitchen knife.

The boy allegedly waylaid the girl on the way and stabbed her at vegetable kiosk near Kiminini Primary School.

The boy is from another school in the area and has been insisting that the girl must become his girlfriend.

According to an eyewitness, the girl was walking to buy an item from a nearby shop when the attacker confronted her and demanded to know why she was refusing to become his lover.

"We heard the boy ask the girl why she is refusing to be his girlfriend and shortly the girl started screaming that she had been stabbed," said an eyewitness.

After stabbing the girl, the assailant tried to escape but was pursued and arrested by members of the public.

"He was escaping from the scene, but we managed to pursue and arrest him," said a local resident.

The boy was beaten before police arrived and saved him from the irate mob.

Area Assistant Chief Sammy Khaemba confirmed the incident and said the injured student had been admitted to Cottage Hospital, Kiminini.

"The student was stabbed on the thigh and forehead and was rushed to hospital. The suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident," said Khaemba.

Sources at the hospital said that the student has been stitched on the stabs and was stable.

The administrator termed the incident as unfortunate and primitive.

"Why go ahead to attack someone when she has turned down you wish. You don’t need to force a girl or woman o love you. This is a primitive act, and we are not going to tolerate such crime," the chief warned.

He urged parents to protect their daughters from boys preying on them.
