Government has started verification of land ownership in ranches near Maasai Mau forest

The government has started a land ownership verification exercise in five group ranches that border the Maasai Mau Forest.

Narok South Deputy County Commissioner Felix Kisalu said the group ranches are the root cause of on and off ethnic clashes in the area.

They are Olombogisho with 607 hectares, Oloshusho (1155 hectares), Oloopangi (1117 hectares), Enekishomi (800 hectares) and Letian Leboo (600 hectares).

“Many residents have lost millions of shillings trying to pursue legal action for their pieces of land. We hope that the process we just began will bring satisfaction to all the individual landowners,” said Kisalu. He spoke at Pimbiniet Police Post during the launch of the verification and asked the residents to cooperate with the land officials in the operation.

Kisalu asked the group ranch officials to work closely with land officials to show them their borders without hiding any important information to ensure transparency.
