Children discover dumped body while playing

Police in Kinangop, Nyandarua County, are investigating an incident in which the body of a man was found dumped in an abandoned house.

It’s suspected the man was murdered elsewhere and his body dumped at Magumu on the Njabini-Fly Over road.

In the past few months, several bodies have been found dumped near Kinale Forest on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Magumu-Thika Road has been notorious with similar cases. The majority of the bodies found are those of strangled young men.

In the latest case, the body was found by children playing near the abandoned house.

Local leader Paul Karimi said the deceased was not from the area and the body was ferried overnight and dumped.

“On discovering the body we called the police who in turn started investigations,” he said.

Njabini Deputy OCPD Charles Rotich said an inquest file had been opened as part of the investigations.

He said the body had been collected and taken to Naivasha mortuary.

No identification documents were found at the scene.

“We have picked the deceased’s fingerprints and sent them to the registrar of persons to assist us in identification,” he said.

Meanwhile, residents of Ngodi in North Lake Naivasha found the body of a woman lying by the road.

The woman, who looked elderly, was last seen drinking in a bar the previous night.

A senior police officer who requested anonymity said the body was taken to Naivasha mortuary.
