Anxiety has gripped Maella, Naivasha after youths invaded hundreds of acres belonging to absent farmers.

Leaders warned that the rising cases of lawlessness in the volatile area were a time bomb.

The tension stems from a leadership row surrounding the Ng’ati Farmers Co-operative. Naivasha Assistant Commissioner John Opondo said tens of acres had already been invaded.

Some youths said they were targeting land which was illegally allocated to non-members of Ng’ati.
