Maendeleo ya Wanaume’s Nderitu Njoka has been arrested for allegedly obtaining money by false pretense.

Njoka was yesterday arrested in Maralal by police after allegedly conning 14 prospective tenants in Maralal town of Sh284,000 on pretext that he was the owner of business stalls in the town and had gone to collect rent.

A victim said Njoka informed him that he had leased the land where the stalls have been put for 15 years and wanted three months advance rent.

Samburu DCIO Vincent Egesa confirmed that they received reports and arrested Njoka. Egesa said the businessmen paid the money early in the year but Njoka had gone underground.
