Baringo Speaker seeks further court orders

Embattled Baringo Speaker William Kamket has asked a Nakuru court to issue orders reinstating him.

This comes after members of the county assembly denied him entry to the house last week.

In an application filed under certificate of urgency, Mr Kamket asked the court to review orders it had issued on March 15 pending determination of a suit in which he is challenging his impeachment.

Nakuru Employment and Labour Relations Judge Stephen Radido reinstated Kamket in March but his orders were limited, pending hearing and determination of his suit challenging the suspension.

The suit was determined by the Eldoret High Court last week.

In Nakuru, Kamket has a pending suit challenging his impeachment through a report by an ad hoc committee which the assembly adopted and removed him.

Justice Radido had then stopped Kamket's removal and subsequent election of another speaker as advertised in a local daily.

His application will be heard on June 10 with the main case challenging his ouster awaiting ruling on July 17.
