Recently released convict kills girlfriend in Kapsabet

Kapsabet, Kenya: Police attached to Nandi Central Police Station in Kapsabet have arrested an ex-convict, who allegedly murdered his girlfriend in cold blood in their rental house in Kapsabet.

The ex-convict, who was released two months ago from a GK Prison in Eldoret, killed his live-in girlfriend by stabbing her several times.

Neighbors revealed that the two lovers fought for about two hours late Tuesday night. The ex-convict only identified as 'Chumbaa' was overheard accusing his girlfriend of infecting him with a disease.

"The fighting ceased and we thought they had solved their problems. However, we realised in the morning that Chumbaa had killed his girlfriend," said Cleophas Tarus , who lives next door.

A lady, who paid a visit at the couple's house in the morning, discovered the girl’s body lying in a pool of blood. She was identified as Violah Jerobon.

She had been stabbed in her face and at the back of her head with a knife and a seemingly brand new machete.  Neighbours further claimed that the man had earlier purchased the machete at the local shopping center.

The deceased also sustained serious cuts on her hands.

The man, who went to hiding after committing the crime, was later arrested at Chomisia Centre in Nandi. Until her death, Jerobon was a cashier at a local bar in Kapsabet.

She leaves behind three children.

Jerobon’s body was transported to Kapsabet County Referral Mortuary pending investigations.
