Turkana leaders bet on strategic plan to fight hunger

TURKANA, KENYA: Turkana North Development Forum (TNDF) has rolled out a three year constituency’s strategic plan to fast track development agenda in the County.
 The TNDF began a four day retreat session in Lodwar town in Turkana Central sub County to adopt mechanism that will alleviate poverty and perennial hunger and drought cycles in the County.
The Forum  has drawn a range of the host Turkana North professionals,  Civil Society luminaries, women leaders, business community and top county politicians who have been tasked to identify critical development gaps that have retarded the growth of the county.
The strategic plans which are chaired by TNDF Chairman Paul Ejore and the Concept Consultant firm, will discuss County governance structures, Education sector, poverty, health, infrastructure development as major impediments to be tackled across the County.
The Forum is also expected to table key constituency development agendas, findings and resolutions on the final leg of the session on Sunday that will be adopted by other five constituencies.

Ejore said the forum will develop a blue print for Turkana North constituency that ensures elaborate Social -political and economic goals of the constituency are achieved in the next five year's plan.
"We have developed constituency strategic plans geared towards development of the region that will improve economic livelihoods of the drought ravaged people in the region", Ejore told the Forum in Ceamo prestige Lodge in Lodwar town.
The Chairman said the people of Turkana North constituency will want to focus on booming tourism sector that is evident in the cradle of mankind, alleviate poverty, and enhance quality education and affordable health care in the region.
"Our focus is constantly geared towards creating wealth and eradicating poverty for our people. The devolution is equally here with us. We want to move in line with this train and fit perfectly into the matrix of vision 2030", added Ejore.
The TNDF Secretary Michael Aremon appealed to the Turkana professionals to embark on visionary leadership that will tackle prevailing challenges that affects the County.
"As Turkana professional body our County is affected by imminent drought cycles, poverty, and high illiteracy levels and poor infrastructure. Let’s focus on a vision that is invisible to others", Aremon told the forum.
