Somalia's Elman hope to make impact

 Somalia champions Elman FC left Mogadishu on Wednesday hoping to make an impact in the Cecafa Kagame Club Cup which will kicks off in Dar es Salaam today.

A small farewell ceremony was held at the Elman FC headquarters in Mogadishu where Somali Football Federation authorities addressed the team members.

Secretary General Abdi Qanbi Said Arab told the farewell ceremony that the SFF and the club authorities spent all efforts in the team and what they are expecting from them is to score success in the upcoming Cecafa club tournament.

“You are Elman FC, but you are also carrying the name of Somalia on your back. So we want you to defend the country’s reputation in the tourney. I am sure you can do that,” the secretary General told the team members.

Likewise the president of Somali Football Federation Said Mahmoud Nur told the team the ability of Somali football changed for the past several years and he was expecting them to play well and come back with success.

He said that despite experiencing difficulties and prolonged unrest in the country, he was very hopeful that the team will do well in the upcoming Cecafa Kagame club cup.

As shown in the fixtures, Somalia’s champions Elman FC will take on Bunamwaya of Uganda in their first match on June 27. The competition was due to be held in Sudan, but was later transferred to Tanzania due to security concerns.
