My Style: Lulu hassan, KTN news anchor

By Crystal Okusa

My style is… I am a very simple person, if I’m not wearing a suit to work, I usually wear jeans and sporty tops.

Trouser suits or skirts suits… Trouser suits anytime, though not tight. They don’t reveal much like skirt suits in my opinion. I don’t want people concentrating somewhere else while I am trying to pass information.

As a news anchor, how often do you style your hair? Every two days. Mostly if I am on duty so that it looks neat on the screen.

When buying a suit, do you prefer a three or two-button jacket? A two-button jacket goes well with my body type since I’m a bit petite. Three-button jacket works well with the plus size ladies.

What colours of suits are your favourite? Dark coloured-grey and brown go well with the set and my skin tone.

Accessories that complement your skin are…Gold, though they shouldn’t be too shiny.

What are you likely to carry when heading for a get-away… For the day, a cowboy look-jeans, boots, a hat and shades. But I never forget to carry a dinner dress, make-up and a little jewellery just in case I have to go for dinner.

How would you dress the guy accompanying you to the dinner? I prefer a semi-casual look of linen trousers, a black shirt and black loafers. He needs to be comfortable and not feel to tight like he is going to the office.

In my bag I always carry... Make-up, jewellery, a comb, Oud and soap everywhere with me, because you never know when you may be needed to go on air.

What cannot be found in your closet? Miniskirts and G-strings. Firstly, G-strings look dirty; I wonder who came up with them. As for miniskirts, they make people lose respect for you, as you show that you are not confident in the way you look hence a mini-skirt to make people look at you.

Style mantra? Be decent. If you are wearing a G-string make sure you top is long enough to cover any exposure. The sight of one peeping out in a public place is embarrassing.
