Alfred Mutua and Musalia Mudavadi during their vetting by Committee on Appointments

Cabinet nominees who were party leaders relinquished their positions before vetting by the Committee on Appointments chaired by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

Prime Cabinet Secretary nominee Musalia Mudavadi told the committee that he had already relinquished his position as Amani National Congress party leader but did not state who had replaced him or when he left the position.
