Mudavadi and Mutua relinquish party leadership posts

Attorney General nominee Justin Muturi who was the Democratic party leader quit and had suggested Mbeere North MP George Kiringa as the acting party leader but the National Executive Council opted for Patron Joseph Munyao to act until next year when they hold elections.

Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Cabinet Secretary nominee Alfred Mutua resigned as Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader. He told The Standard that the position has not been filled yet since the party National Executive Council had not met to decide who will take over from him.

Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary nominee Moses Kuria resigned as Chama Cha Kazi party leader and initiated a process of dissolving the party and merging with the United Democratic Alliance.

"We had already notified the Registrar of Political Parties one month ago of our intention of Chama Cha Kazi dissolving and merging with the United Democratic Alliance. At the moment I am keen to serve the country as a Cabinet Secretary," said Kuria.

Information, Communication and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Nominee Eliud Owalo has already resigned as the UDA Deputy Secretary General in readiness of vetting to assume his new responsibilities.
