Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga is expected to storm Deputy President William Ruto’s backyard today in what could be his final rally in the North Rift region before the August 9 elections.

Raila and his running mate Martha Karua will hold two mega rallies – one in Nandi Hills and another in Eldoret town.

Yesterday, Eldoret’s Huruma Grounds in Turbo Constituency where Raila’s second campaign rally will take place was being set up.

Former Cabinet Ministers Sally Kosgei and Linah Kilimo said Raila and Karua will address challenges bedevilling the agricultural sector in the North Rift.

Dr Kosgei, who is coordinating the ODM leader’s tour, said Karua will inspire women to vote for the Azimio candidate, and that the coalition will woo undecided voters in Rift Valley.

She said Raila will highlight ways in which he will tackle corruption, which is to blame for the crumbling of agriculture in the North Rift.

Speaking at the venue of tomorrow’s Azimio campaign rally, the former agriculture and higher education minister said a huge number of voters in the Rift Valley are backing Raila, but were fearing to campaign openly for him.

“The former prime minister is coming to the North Rift not as a visitor. We know him and he knows us. We are preparing the ground and talking to our people. The focus in Uasin Gishu and Nandi is agriculture,” Kosgei said.

“But beyond that, women are excited to see Martha Karua representing Kenya as a woman of substance and one of the greatest intellects.”

Mrs Kilimo, who is the current Public Service and Gender CAS, said Raila’s campaign will sway undecided voters across the region.
