MCA suffers blow as court strikes off petition to terminate her expulsion

The court has struck off a petition filed by a nominated Ward rep seeking to have her reinstated in the county assembly after suspension from the nominating party.

In a judgement yesterday, Kakamega Chief Magistrate Bildad Ochieng’ said the court lacked the requisite jurisdiction to hear and determine matters arising from disciplinary steps made by Amani National Congress party against Jackline Mwakha Okanya (above) or any of its members.

The magistrate ordered Ms Okanya to first seek intervention of the party's internal dispute resolution mechanism then possibly the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal before going to court.
