The role and duties of the deputy governors are not clearly defined in the Constitution.

Deputy President William Ruto said this when he addressed the council of deputy governors at Enashipai Spa in Naivasha.

"I'm happy that the issue is before Senate and we hope that we shall get a lasting solution so that service delivery can improve," he said.

Ruto told the deputies that there was no need for competition or confrontation with governors, adding that consultation was the only way forward.
