Governor Iria accuses Parliament of working against the Executive

Governor Mwangi wa Iria has termed the rejection of Dr Monica Juma by parliamentarians as a wider plot to sabotage President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration.

Speaking at Gatara Akorino church in Kiharu constituency, Iria said the MPs are hiding under parliamentary immunity and mandate to sabotage development programmes initiated by national and county governments.

He said the Council of Governors has raised the issue with the parliament, urging legislators to support county initiatives.

"Rejection of Dr Juma as Secretary to the Cabinet is just an example. They are also working hard to stop service delivery in county governments," said the governor, citing problems with MPs in his own backyard.
