United Democratic Front leaders reject rebranding plan

NYERI, KENYA: United Democratic Front (UDF) officials from Mt Kenya region have opposed the planned re-branding of the party terming it as ploy to break away from the Jubilee Coalition. On Friday, the officials led by nominated Senator Martha Wangari, said some of the officials led by the party leader Musalia Mudavadi, were out to mislead the public by breaking away.

At a meeting chaired by Mt Kenya region vice-chairman Kenneth Thuranira, the officials said the re-branding is meant to force members to another coalition. “As members, we are to remain in the Jubilee Coalition following the agreement we signed after the last General Election,” said Mr Thuranira.

Addressing the press after the regional meeting, the senator said Mr Musalia and former MP Jeremiah Kioni, should not mislead the party they found already registered by the founder members.
