Marende, Jirongo dismiss dialogue calls, urge Luhya unity

Some Luhya leaders have dismissed CORD's call for national dialogue, labelling it as wishful thinking and empty rhetoric to hoodwink innocent Kenyans into believing that they are fighting for them.

Led by former National Assembly speaker Kenneth Marende and Federal Party of Kenya leader Cyrus Jirongo, the leaders said CORD leaders have a hidden agenda.

Marende said dialogue is not compulsory because the Jubilee Government was genuinely and legally elected into office, adding that CORD should respect President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

"Luhyas should be keen and analyse the opposition critically. These people might be being used by some outside forces to frustrate the sitting head of state and his deputy so that they can take over leadership through dubious means. That's unacceptable and I am calling on Kenyans to be on the lookout," charged Marende.

Jirongo fired a salvo at Luhya politicians for being unable to work as a team and uniting their community yet they are busy supporting people from outside the community. Jirongo said it was time Luhya leaders put aside their differences to produce one leader and form a party that will accommodate everyone.
