URP aspirants accuse Ruto, Keter of favouritism

A section of URP party officials and aspirants in Kericho County have accused party leader William Ruto and Belgut MP Charles Keter of favouritism.

They said the duo are making the party look like a property of some ‘sacred cows’, adding that aspirants who do not enjoy cordial relationship with the two are being treated as junior partners.

Addressing the Press on Wednesday at the party offices in Litein, over 80 officials and aspirants led by Bureti URP chairman John Chepkwony hit out at Ruto claiming that he had disregarded the laid down party communications protocols.

They also accused Keter, who is running for Kericho Senate seat, of issuing what they termed as confusing roadside statements during on-going campaigns in total disregard of party’s protocol.

“We are concerned that the party’s top leadership is taking advantage of the party’s popularity in South Rift to propel their political agenda and trample on other aspirants,’’ said Chepkwony.

They urged URP headquarters to give clear communications on issues pertaining to the party.
