Biwott party seeking new alliance

Three political parties are set to announce their preferred presidential candidate for next year’s General Election.

The NVP, UDM and Kanu will not be sponsoring presidential candidates but will form an alliance with the chosen aspirant’s party.

Making the announcement, NVP leader Nicholas Biwott said they want to introduce a new dimension in the country’s politics.

“We do not subscribe to the idea of fielding presidential candidates for the sake of it. We want to contribute to restoring discipline in our politics,” said Biwott.

The former Cabinet minister described the forming of new parties close to the General Election and fielding presidential candidates as “self-seeking”.

“New parties should be allowed to grow structures, sell their policies to Kenyans before the big leap to seek the presidency. Otherwise the contrary is political conmanship,” said Biwott.
