Apologies to Prezzo for having Cabinet he can hire but not fire

NAIROBI: Prezzo UK made a moving testimony early in the week when he poured out his frustrations dealing with malingering ministers.

He was at Strathmore University launching some programme when he read through the day's itinerary and lamented: "There is no government here... I am only here with Anne. Rotich should be here, Kaimenyi should also be here and Adan Mohammed, but they are nowhere to be seen. But when there are deals to be made with foreigners, you will see them rushing there..."

Such outpouring of emotion is touching. It means this is something Prezzo UK has encountered repeatedly, and he couldn't keep his frustrations to himself any longer.

I feel his pain, more so because the other half of the Cabinet is on suspension over graft suspicions.

Which beggars the question: If those ministers have no respect for the appointing authority, then how do they regard ordinary Kenyans?

And if they can dare make a no-show to a presidential event, then how often do they actually work?

I remember, in the not-too-distant past, Prezzo UK talking about performance contracts, and I wonder why that was not extended to his ministers.

I had assumed all along that Prezzo UK had the power to hire ministers and fire them as well.
