Why Linda the cop lives up to her name, which means to protect all

Police have been in the news – for the first time in many months – for all the right reasons. Thanks to Corporal Linda Okello, Kenyans have been discussing the force in a very positive vein.

The story has not been about botched investigations, extra-judicial killings or rogue cops felled in theft sprees. The story has been about a curvy cop who likes to wear her skirts tight.

So tight, indeed, that Linda’s arresting presence dominated the social media this week and elicited a global conversation on BBC World Service.

In any case, no one has objected to Linda’s dress code on account of diminished strides (some skirts do shrink sometimes, I hear, so one cannot make a full stride), or even that she has neglected her core duties to attend to sartorial details.

Rather, the force should applaud Linda for providing a positive image of the police as a force for good, where even fair ladies can thrive while serving their country.

All her resources

Hopefully, in the fullness of time, Siegeman David Kimaiyo will add his voice to the “controversy” and make the appropriate observation that Linda is living up to her name, which means to protect all Kenyans, which she does by deploying all her resources.
