The International Olympic Committee (IOC) wants all communication between itself and the local body copied to all affiliates.

The move is expected to ensure transparency ahead of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) polls.

This comes a few days after NOCK affiliates ratified a new constitution that denies sitting executive members voting rights.

The constitution was forwarded to IOC who replied and asked that any comments on further changes should be sent directly to them by any of the affiliates.

In a letter addressed to all the 19 affiliates, NOCK Secretary Genera? Francis Paul said: ”Find herein comments by IOC on the amended draft Constitution which was forwarded to them on 16th January 2017, for your comments, if any, which can be referred to IOC for clarification before going for the Extra Ordinary General Assembly.”

The affiliates have until January 25 to forward their comments.

Kenya Table Tennis Association (KTTA) chairman Andrew Mudibo termed the move by IOC a step in the right direction.

“The process is now transparent and I am sure we are now heading in the right direction in ensuring that we get an all inclusive and transparent NOCK Constitution that should be able to guide development of the Olympic movement,” said Mudibo.

Among the suggestion given by IOC in the latest document include giving the executive committee authority to suggest to the general assembly the appointment of a retired NOCK president to the position of honorary president.

This move could give NOCK president Kipchoge Keino a life line incase he does not defend his seat during the March elections.

IOC also suggests that government and other public servants be barred from contesting for positions.

It also gives an opportunity for more women to be elected by suggesting that the executive have an equal number of either gender.
