A Form Two engaged in bodaboda business died when a motorbike he was riding collided with another in Homa Bay County.

Fredrick Otieno, 17, died on the spot near Dago center along Kadongo -Mawego road in Rachuonyo East on Sunday evening.

The student of Angino Mixed Secondary School was riding the motorcycle towards Mawego to pick a pillion passenger.

However, he met another motorcyclist who was riding from the opposite direction before the accident occurred.

Eyewitnesses said the boy fell from the motorbike due to the impact and died on the spot.

The student was riding a motorbike whose owner had not been known.

Kowidi assistant chief Michael Aoro said the other rider sustained fractures on the leg and was rushed to Rachuonyo South Sub-county Hospital for medication.

Aoro warned parents and boda boda riders against giving minors motorbikes to ride for business.

“It seems some parents and motorcycle owners give learners their motorbikes to ride during holidays. The practice is wrong and should be stopped at all costs,” Aoro said.

The administrator warned untrained individuals against participating in boda boda business.

The body of Otieno was moved to Okita Nursing Home mortuary.
