Migori County Assembly is yet to receive the impeachment motion against Governor Okoth Obado.

Yesterday, the Majority Leader Ken Ouma sought to dispel claims that MCAs were derailing the process.

"We hear people talk about the impeachment motion in public discourse and we wonder if they have even seen the draft of the motion. The fact is we have not received the draft impeachment motion," he said.

Ouma told The Standard they would have no reason to hold the motion once it is received.

"People call us here every day particularly some of the Orange party branch leaders, but we want to tell them to be patient as the matter is being addressed," he said.

Ouma defended members against claims that they had been compromised over the matter.

"Members were notified of what to do by the party and we are working on it," he said.

So far the assembly has held 13 sittings but the impeachment process has failed to take off. Frustrated by the delay to oust Obado, ODM is keen on effecting leadership changes in the assembly in a bid to push the motion through.

The MCAs now want to remove Speaker Boaz Okoth over claims of delaying the process.

Contacted, Okoth dismissed the MCAs' scheme as mere politics. He said he was yet to receive the impeachment motion notice to place in the daily order paper.

"If we receive the motion, we will put it in the order paper. But people are just talking about impeachment yet there is not even a draft of the motion," he said.
