Governor James Ongwae seeks investors as landmark summit draws closer

The Kisii County Government is in the process of acquiring land to house the multi-billion-shilling investments expected follow its inaugural investment summit next month.

Kisii Governor James Ongwae said yesterday that although land is a serious challenge, the county will give incentives to investors who would want to support his government.

"We are giving incentives to the investors that want to support the county government. However, land is a serious challenge. My government has embarked on land acquisition to guarantee multi-billion-shilling investments," he said when he met Standard Group Chief Executive Officer Sam Shollei at the Standard Centre yesterday.

The summit dubbed 'Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit 2016' will take place from February 24 to 26. It will not only provide a platform to showcase the county's investment opportunities but also allow for exchange of innovative ideas.

Ongwae said agribusiness, health, infrastructure and trade will be the focus of the summit. Mr Ongwae who invited investors and leaders to attend the conference.

Shollei hailed devolution, and noted that it is transforming the country. "We have seen transformation in the counties and we are delighted that we have today hosted Kisii governor who has visited and shared the agenda which will transform the county with us," he said.
