Nyamira County Assembly has passed a motion to have four executive members and two chief officers sacked for allegedly embezzling money meant for development. The motion tabled by Majority Leader Laban Masira was passed in a record ten minutes with all MCAs voting in favour of removal of the officials.

After the motion was passed, Speaker Joash Nyamoko immediately constituted an adhoc committee to hear any counter-claims officers will have to raise.

The committee will be headed by Kiabonyoru Ward Representative James Sabwengi while Deputy Speaker Andrew Magangi will be assisting him.

Others in the committee are Itibo Ward Rep Samuel Nyanchama with nominated MCAs Fred Menge and Naomi Bosibori.

“The committee will have 10 days to table the report that will be based on issues raised by the officers accused because it is their constitutional right,” said Mr Nyamoko.

On the other hand, Governor John Nyagarama has also instructed the six to step aside to await a pending report from an ad hoc committee constituted by the Assembly Speaker.

The move comes a week after the Assembly first adopted a report by the Committee on implementation which implicated the officers.

According to Nyagarama the officers who stepped aside will know their fate after the ad hoc committee finishes and tables the report on issues raised against them.
