SIAYA, KENYA: Siaya gubernatorial candidates, Cornel Rasanga and William Oduol, have cast their ballots in the race for the Governor’s seat.

Rasanga, who is vying on an Orange Democratic (ODM) Party ticket, voted at Segere Primary school early this morning. His rival William Oduol voted at Siaya County Assembly polling centre.

This election is critical for ODM because it had more gubernatorial seats than its political rival Jubilee Alliance before its candidate Cornel Rasanga’s win was nullified by the High Court.

Ransanga was declared a winner in the March 4 polls but his win was invalidated following an election petition filed by his opponent William Oduol. High Court Judge Aggrey Muchelule nullified the results in citing that there were numerous electoral discrepancies in the polling process.

National Agenda Party of Kenya’s William Oduol and independent candidate Noah Winja are also contending for coveted Siaya the seat. Oduol voted at Siaya County Assembly Hall polling station at about 11.20am.
