Police launch manhunt for 17-year old who stabbed, killed cousin in Nandi

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kaimosi, Nandi County have launched a manhunt for a 17-year-old who allegedly killed his cousin.

Police say the incident took place last night after an argument between the deceased and the suspect.

According to the police, Josphat Kibet, 31, sustained injuries from an arrow wound inflicted on him by the juvenile.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the two had argued over who would charge their phone first, before the young man reached for an arrow, and stabbed the deceased on the left side of his chest before taking off,” DCI said.

Three months before the incident, a 36-year-old man was detained on suspicion of killing his wife and three children in Ndalat Village in Nandi.

Philip Abera, a casual labourer, is alleged to have to surrendered to at Kipkaren Celia Police Station where he reported the incident.

Residents of the area claimed that throughout their 12-year marriage, Abera and his wife Risper Jelimo, 42, were constantly at odds.
