However, there has been some good-humoured rivalry as both drivers fight over who will uphold the record for long.

Dinesh, who is the KF2 champion, will be unveiling his new rotax engine and hopes to overshadow Hirani.

Hirani may have finished second overall in the junior rotax race but smashing the record made him the-much-talked-about driver then.

"The race was fantastic. I thought I would do a time of 30.9seconds but instead I did 30.62. So this was a pleasant surprise," said Hirani.

Tushal Mavji won the junior rotax class. Most competitive class was 60cc where top drivers kept switching places.

And there was some great overtaking skills viewed by spectators at the event. There was a good battle between 60cc winner Jason Oosterick and Philip Ndegwa.

Dinesh won the KF2 class with Amani Nzomo winning 50cc.

An excited Dinesh said: "The race was awesome. I came first and that was an easy win. I broke the record in the morning to 30.8. But then Hirani, my teammate at Team Magic, lowered it in the afternoon to 30.62," said Dinesh.

Dinesh had a good kart with no difficulties whatsoever and was pushing so fast round the corners.

Right gear

"Braking late and power keeps me on the top, I always ensure I have the right gear on the kart," continued Dinesh.

Meanwhile, officials for Round 10 action on December 11-12 have been selected. The event will wrap up what has been an exciting and successful season.

Clerk of the Course is Paul Bailey, while the stewards are Andrew Ndegwa and Chirag Soni, according to the Rift Valley Motorsport and Sports Club meeting held at Rust Nail, Karen on November 1.

It was also agreed the Additional Supplementary Regulations must be sent before the event. It was decided that minimum ages for new drivers must be adhered.

A new system of racing is to be looked into and a committee of Johan, Rob Collinge, Paul Bailey and Mehboob Nanji was mandated to discuss and come up with a proposal.

At the same meeting, the changes agreed at the meeting on the Rift Valley Karting Regulations would be adopted into the Regulations for next year. Parents and drivers willing to go to Dubai next month were asked to contact Rob Collinge.
