A multi-agency team led by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has destroyed about 20,000 litres of illicit alcohol and dismantled brewing sites along the Mathare River in Mathare North.

The dawn operation, conducted with National Police Service officers from the Nairobi Region, destroyed more than 150 jerricans of kangara, 15 jerricans of chang'aa, over 30 metallic boiling tanks, and extinguished fires at 12 active brewing points.
