Eight arrested as police raid Dandora illegal alcohol plant

Police acting on a tip-off have raided an illegal alcohol brewing plant in Dandora, Nairobi.

Eight people have been arrested.

Police are still looking for the plant owner. He is said to have fled and switched off his phone.

Officers found 181 boxes of Star spirit, each carton containing 20 250ml bottles.

Some 42 boxes of Blue Ice vodka were also recovered.

Also found were Kenya Revenue Authority stickers and assorted empty plastic bottles.

The workers arrested were identified as Stephen Wambugu, David Chui, Salome Wanjiru and Wilikister Kemunto.

Others are John Mwangi, Daniel Maigwa, Zacharia Macharia and Peter Maina.

The suspects were arrested by sleuths from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU).
