Four suspects arrested while dismantling stolen car

Four suspects were Friday arrested after police recovered a vehicle that had been stolen dismantled in Ngong area, Nairobi.

The vehicle was stolen on April 7, 2019 in the city center. It was white in color when the robbery occurred. Yesterday, when the officers arrived at the site they found it was colored and the number plates changed.

Flying Squad boss Musa Yego said the suspects planned to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer at Sh6.5 million.

“This is an organised crime in which vehicles are stolen, dismantled and spare parts sold,” he said.

The suspects are expected in court today.

Meanwhile, police have intensified a search for two guns robbed from the owner of Osteria Del Chianti Restaurant along Lenana Road Mr Maurizio Corti.

The search intensified to outside Nairobi where the thieves who grabbed the two Ceska pistols with 30 bullets are hiding.

Corti told police the thieves tampered with power supply to the restaurant before they grabbed the guns which were in a bag next to where he was seated.

The incident happened on Saturday night.

“One of them placed something on my cheek which I think was a weapon and threatened to kill or harm me if I made any move. They then grabbed the bag which also had my personal belongings,” he said.

The hotelier is a licensed gun holder. It is believed the thief or thieves are people who knew his movements.

He told the Standard he uses the weapons for his protection.

Detectives from Kilimani police station visited the scene of the incident and questioned the Italian businessman and his workers.

A team of detectives is pursuing the thieves behind the incident.
