An aviation student crash-landed a light aircraft at the Nairobi National Park Tuesday afternoon.
He was alone in the aircraft when he took off from Wilson Airport but crash landed within the national park, few minutes later due to engine failure.
The plane of registration 5Y-JUX was badly damaged in the incident. Rescuers rushed to the scene and saved the trainee pilot before taking him to hospital where he was attended to after the 4 pm incident.
Most students use the airport for their training. Experts and aviation officials visited the scene and commenced investigations.
Accidents involving civil aircrafts are investigated by the Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID) of the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development.
