IG Joseph Boinett warns criminal groups out to cause mayhem

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett

NAIROBI: Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett has warned individuals working in cahoots with politicians to form criminal gangs. He warned that outlawed groups such as Mungiki and Sungu Sungu, out to cause mayhem during the upcoming electioneering period, will face the full force of the law.

Mr Boinett noted that individuals involved in such vices are also involved in manufacture and sale of illicit alcohol. He urged Kenyans to be keen on their surroundings and the company they keep, as terrorism is still a serious threat. "Information indicates that Al Shabaab is still keen on attacking Northern Kenya counties, the coast and major cities," he said.
