Kenyan accused of terror, spying denied bail

Abubakar Sadiq Louw (left) and Yassin Sambai Juma were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to mount terror attacks against western targets in Kenya.

A terror suspect charged with undergoing paramilitary training in Iran and Iraq has been denied bail by a Nairobi court.

Yasin Sambai Juma, 29, denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo. Prosecutor Duncan Ondimu had urged the court to deny him bail, saying he was a security threat and may flee in light of the “serious” charges he was facing.

Police arrested Juma alongside Abubakar Sadiq Loum, 69. The two Kenyans are believed to have been spying for and recruiting on behalf of an Iraqi terror group.
