Suspect to remain in custody until his rectum is clear

Police are holding a Ghanaian national arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport over drug trafficking charges.

The man aged 34 was on his to Benin from Sao Paulo Brazil on Saturday night when he was detained by officials from the Anti-Narcotics Unit.

He was put in an observation room and has since emitted at least 48 pellets he had inserted into his rectum. Police say they are yet to know if the drugs are heroin or cocaine and that he will be taken to court as soon as he is through with the emission.
