A man working with a private security firm has been arrested and several military, police and National Youth Service uniforms found in his house in Nairobi’s Huruma estate.

Also seized from him in the Tuesday afternoon raid was a pair of handcuffs that police believe the suspect has been using in conning and threatening locals. A chain used to wash guns was also found in the house.

Reflector for military police and NYS, military identification card bearing the name of Senior Private Benjamin Baraza, General Service Unit sleeping bags and different snaps of him taken with different uniforms were also found in the room.

He was arrested following a tip off from the public and police believe the man has been behind a number of robberies in the area by people wearing uniforms. Police said they suspect the uniforms and other government equipment that was found with him were stolen from various quarters.

Police said they are investigating to know if the man has been hiring out the uniforms to criminals.
