Kiganjo Police College, Railways get new police commandants

A new commandant has been posted to the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo in changes announced at the police headquarters.

The director of planning at police headquarters Mr Noor Gabow was promoted and posted to Kiganjo as the commandant.

Gabow replaced Mr William Saiya who was moved to police headquarters for redeployment.

Therefore Gabow who had previously served as a deputy commandant at the college has to be promoted to the rank of Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police (SAIG).

In the changes announced on September 22, Mr Rono Bunei was named the commandant of Kenya Railways police unit. The unit takes care of Standard Gauge Railways.

Mr Bunei who has been the deputy commandant Kenya Airports Police Unit (KAPU) replaced Peter Mwanzia who was recalled to police headquarters for redeployment.

Mr Remi Warui who has been the deputy commandant at Kenya Railways police unit was moved to KAPU in the same capacity.

The changes were ratified by the National Police Service Commission. It is not clear what necessitated the changes.

Both Kenya police and Administration police colleges are headed by officers of SAIG rank. The colleges train all police officers in the country and key in security management at large.

Mr Boniface Maingi has been confirmed the director of personnel at Vigilance House. He replaces Mr Stanley Lemai who retired several months ago. Maingi had been serving in the same capacity at the General Service Unit headquarters.

Other informed officials said more changes and promotions are expected next month after the commission ratifies them.
