Court refuses to lift gag against Anne Waiguru on National Youth Service

Anne Waiguru cannot comment on the National Youth Service scam in public until the appeal she filed is heard and determined.

Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru cannot comment on the National Youth Service scam in public until the appeal she filed is heard and determined.

This is after the High Court in Nairobi declined to lift gag orders issued by the magistrate's court requiring her not to talk about the scandal.

High Court judge Richard Mwongo ruled if he issued the prayers sought by the former CS, he would settle the case even before it's heard.

"This court is inclined to agree that granting the orders under the application will amount to determining the appeal," the judge ruled Wednesday.

The former CS in her case urged the court to allow her to freely speak about the scam, adding that the orders on the Sh1.6 billion scam talk were placing her at a crossroads.

"The orders place me between obeying court orders and complying with my civic duty to assist with investigations into the said loss of money," the CS said.
