The Council of Governors has raised concerns regarding the rising cost of healthcare in the country even as the doctors' strike persists.

Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, the chairman of the Health committee, said there was urgent need for a universal healthcare system to address the problem.

He noted that the council was working on an initiative to ensure that all Kenyans had access to universal healthcare by ensuring that the high costs were reduced.

"We want to have uniform bills across the country and we will release a list of all ailments and their costs to the public," said Mr Ranguma. The list will guide patients on the amounts they should pay.
