Doctors make errors too; when in doubt ask!

A well-meaning lady came to my office recently and asked me whether medicine will ever become completely safe? She had recently suffered terrible complications after going through a seemingly simple gynecological operation in a premier hospital in the city.

She half expected to hear my response, medical safety will never be foolproof. Things will sometimes go wrong, what must always be in place are processes that reduce medical complications to the barest minimum.
