Naomi Kamau is a producer, a script writer and an actress. She has been acting for eleven years. Among the plays and programmes are Heart and Soul, Makutano Juntion, Tahidi High and Mother-in-Law. Naomi is also the producer for Machachari, which won as the best play of the year during last year’s Chaguo la Teeniez.

What kind of life do actresses or actors live? How do you feel being an actress?
Naomi: Actors and actresses live a normal life but they are perceived as celebrities and, therefore, they are treated differently and people expect much more from them

Why did you choose acting as your career? How was it like at first while choosing on your career?
Naomi: I chose acting as my career because I liked it very much and I was talented. I believed I would excel in life through acting because it was in my heart. It is always a good idea to choose a career in which you are best at and talented because it makes you perform better. It wasn’t hard choosing at first because I was sure of becoming an actress

What are some of the problems that actress mothers encounter in their lives? At what age would you encourage young people to start taking acting seriously?
Naomi: Having little time to spend with your family. Most of the time actors and actress spend their time rehearsing or searching for good scenes suitable for their plays. It is advisable to start at any age and as soon as your talent is discovered.

Naomi: It is about reflecting on the happenings in the society, which I think many Kenyans like because we relate issues that occur in our daily lives. I have managed because I am a mother. For me, there isn’t any difficulty in playing the role.
