Nazlin Umar made her first stab at the presidency in 2007, finishing sixth behind  Mwai Kibaki, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Joseph Karani and Pastor Pius Muiru. She gathered 8,624 votes under the Workers Congress Party of Kenya.

 She tried again in 2013 and 2017 but her candidature was rejected for not meeting   minimum requirements to run for the presidency.
