Kenyans on social media respond to Ezra Chiloba's leave

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) C.E.O Ezra Chiloba is taking a three-week break.

Mr. Chiloba, who has been under constant pressure from the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga made his decision shortly IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said the election would not be credible with some officials in office.

This move means that Chiloba will be away during the oncoming October 26 repeat presidential election. He says his decision is to be away in order to build confidence in stakeholders who had complained about commission officials.

Chiloba has been in the spotlight since the nullification of the August 8 elections which the Supreme Court claimed to have not been conducted in accordance with the law.

National Super Alliance (NASA) led by leader Raila Odinga has been pushing for the removal of Chiloba and other officials from office. Raila has accused Chiloba of mismanaging the August 8 election by rigging, bungling and stealing votes.

Demonstrations in the streets have been ongoing on the streets in different parts of the country, pushing for the C.E.O to resign.

Chiloba’s decision has come in close after another IEBC top official, Dr.Reselyn Akombe resigned. Akombe cited her reasons for jumping ship as difficult working conditions in a deeply divided commission, a partisan secretariat, and political interference.

The IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati gave a statement after Akombe’s resignation saying that some officials needed to leave for the repeat presidential elections to be credible.

Following this, Kenyans have had their speculations and did not hesitate to share them on social media. Here are some of them;
