Married female teacher arrested after student bragged about having illicit affair with her

By Mirror | June 22nd 2015

UK: A female school teacher has been charged after allegedly having sex with one of her teenage students in her home.

Married Lauren Mitchell, who teaches at Dr Lena Edwards Academic Charter School in Jersey City, New Jersey, engaged in “inappropriate sexual activity” with a 15-year-old according to police.

The 32-year-old and the student are alleged to have performed a sex act on each other, with Mitchell being charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police have said that fellow teachers observed "inappropriate interactions" between the teacher and the pupil.

School bosses were notified following a recent school trip, prompting a police investigation.

Mitchell was arrested on Friday, and is now in custody at Bergen County Jail on a $150,000 bail.

She will next appear in court on July 7.
