Nairobi, Kenya: The Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) has extended the registration deadline for KCSE 2014 candidates from Monday 31 to April 7, 2014.

The seven-day extension comes after congestion at the exam portal as many schools uploaded data in a last minute rush to beat the deadline.

However, the registration deadline for KCPE 2013 candidates remains March 31, 2014.

The council also assured candidates and examination centres that the registration portal is up and running despite the challenges.

“In order to take care of the few schools which may not be able to register by Monday 31, 2014 and owing to the challenges being experienced , the registration period for KCSE 2014 examination which is most affected has been extended by seven days to end on Monday 7 2014 after which the registration portal will automatically close. The deadline to register KCPE candidates remains Monday March 31, 2014 and no candidate will be registered after the given dates,” part of a statement sent to newsrooms read.

KNEC Head of Public Communication Frida Were also added that so far 870, 000 KCPE candidates and 450, 000 KCSE candidates have been registered compared to 835, 000 KCPE and 442, 000 KCSE candidates who sat for same examinations last year.
