Launch of Leo the movie

The Kenyan movie industry has been doing well in the recent past, with locally produced and directed movies bagging awards across the globe.

Another inspirational film Leo is set to be screened this Friday at the Planet Media Cinemas at West Gate Shopping Mall, Nairobi. It will be premiered at the same venue on November 29 at a red carpet reception.

Directed by Jinna Mutune, the movie is an adult fairy-tale set in Nairobi. It is a story about a Maasai boy raised in a low-income home achieving his dream against all odds.

The lead acting role of Leo is played by child actor Trevor Gitonga of Changes. Trevor, who thinks he is a super hero in Leo, acts alongside Hollywood’s David Morin and Kenya’s Jeff Koinange, Paddy Mwangi and Gowi Odera among others.

Director Jinna Mutune is a native of Kenya. She is described as a multi-cultural film-maker who has directed and produced short films, music videos and theatrical plays both in America and Africa.

Jinna has a degree from renowned South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (AFDA, Cape Town, South Africa) and in Film Studies from the Houston Community College in Texas, USA. Business mogul Chris Kirubi is one of the four executive producers of Leo.
